What is MP3Dancer ?
MP3 Dancers are tiny video figures of real dancers who dance IN RYTHM along the bottom of your computer screen. MP3Dancer software is FREE : You can download it here.

How does it work ?
When MP3Dancer detects music, it displays a video animation of a professional dancer. First the dancer appears in true color and waits to recognize the rhythm. Then the dancer begins to dance to the rhythm, either in true color or in silhouette mode, according to the animation on our website for you to download.

Membership, silhouette dancer, true color dancer ? What is that all ?
When we hire some professional dancers, we create animations both in true color and in silhouette. If you become a member you will have all animations, in silhouette and in true color, of every dancers. If you are not a member we will give you one true color animation and we will regularly put some free silhouette animations on our website.

Why can't I download all the animations?
Only members can access to all the animations.

How do I become a member ? For how long ?
Check the how to join section. You'll get a full access that will be automatically canceled after 30 days membership.

How is the software supposed to work if you are not a member ?
The software is exactly the same whether you are a member or not. Only the animations are different.

How many dancers are available ?
Check the dancers page to see them all.

System requirements.
OS : Win 98, NT, Me, 2000 (not with Win 95 yet).
CPU : Pentium 166 or higher.
RAM : 32 Mo
Sound card : Sound card must be full duplex (at least SB16).

 TROUBLE SHOOTING

"You cannot install the package!" message.
You've just tried to install an MP3 DANCER animation without downloading the software.
To open the package, you first need to download the software on your computer.

The Dancer fails to appear automatically and the Dancer does not move to the rhythm.
Click on the dancer icon in the tool bar and choose an option from the "music analysis" list box. The SOUND DETECTED message must appear to have MP3Dancer work properly.

The Options/Music Analysis list box has no entries.
MP3 Dancer needs to sense (record) music you are playing to analyze it. You must specify where the music comes from : CD, line in, stereo mixer. To help you with these settings, we display all the possible options in the Music analysis list box. If the list box is empty, try modify the recording input from the control panel (exact location depends on your OS and sound card).

The disable sign is always on.
The disable sign states that MP3 Dancer won't work. MP3 Dancer needs to sense (record) music to analyze it. It can't work if another application is using your sound card recording input.So, make sure you don't have another application using the recording input at the same time.

The dancer appears in true color and then turns into silhouette.
That's the way it is supposed to work when playing silhouette animations. You need to become a member to have access to all the true color animations ;-)

The music can't be listened to because of severe distortions.
This well-known bug sometimes occurs with some OS/soundcard combinations. It is an audio driver problem which is not connected to MP3Dancer. To solve it, try to download more recent drivers or acquire another sound card. When MP3Dancer analyze music, it sets the sound card recording frequency. With incorrect drivers it will also modify the reading frequency thus creating severe distortions. If you read music from a CD, this won't happen.

There is always a pause when the hard disk reads the next animation?
The dance movement file size varies from 1 to 5 Mb. We use the Windows cache to load it. One cause could be insufficient memory space or slow hard drive.

The dancer appears even when there is no music.
This happens when parasite or phantom noise is detected. To reduce this noise, modify the volume of the recording channels.

How can I uninstall MP3Dancer?
Just click on Start / Programs / MP3 Dancer / Uninstall MP3 Dancer.
